What Is Test Mode and How to Test Your Bundles
Bundly is in test mode until you choose a plan and approve it in Shopify. It also goes back to test mode if your plan stops, for example after you cancel it. While test mode is on, Bundly shows a Test mode is active banner in the app.
What happens in test mode
- You can create bundles, set up your bundle pages and publish bundles as usual.
- If a bundle is Active, customers can open its page and pick products.
- When a customer adds a bundle to the cart, the products show up as separate items at their regular prices, without the bundle price.
- Bundle pages show this notice above the Add to cart button: "Test mode: log in with a staff account email to get bundle prices." Every visitor sees it.
How to test bundles in the cart
In test mode, only you and your staff get bundle prices, and only when you sign in to your store as a customer:
- Open Bundly in your Shopify admin at least once with your own staff account. This is how Bundly learns your email.
- Make sure the bundle and its products are Active in Shopify. Products in Draft can't be added to the cart.
- On your online store, sign in to a customer account with the same email you use to log in to Shopify. We recommend signing in with the email code, so you're sure to use that email.
- Open the bundle page and add the bundle to the cart. The cart shows it as one bundle at the bundle price.
The test mode notice stays on the bundle page even when you're signed in with the right email. It doesn't check who is signed in, so check the price in the cart instead.
Before you make bundles Active
Active products are live on your online store, even while Bundly is in test mode:
- Anyone with the link can open them, and they can show up in search results and collections.
- Other customers who add a bundle to the cart pay the regular price of each product. Products priced at $0 are free for them.
- If you complete checkout while testing, you place a real order. Cancel it afterwards.
When you're done testing, set the bundles you're not ready to sell back to Draft.
How to end test mode
In Bundly, go to Account, choose a plan and approve it in Shopify. Your free trial starts, and every customer gets bundle prices.
On development stores, all plans are free. Choosing a plan creates a test charge, so it costs nothing.
