How to Hide Specific Variants in Bundles
Variant Filters let you control exactly which variant options shoppers can select inside a bundle. This is helpful when you want to:
- Exclude certain sizes or colors from specific bundles
- Exclude "Sample" or "Refill" variants that shouldn't be part of discounted bundles
- Keep only full-price variants in a promotion while excluding sale items
- Limit apparel to specific sizes (e.g., only show kids' sizes in a children's bundle)
- Make sure a bundle only includes variants that you can actually ship together
Plan Availability
Variant Filters are available on the Standard plan only.

How to Configure Variant Filters
- Open your bundle in the Bundly app
- In the Components section, click Manage Variant Filters for the component you want to filter
- Click Add filter
- Select the variant option you want to filter (e.g., Size (Position 1), Color (Position 2))
- Choose the comparison operator:
- is equal to - Include only specific variants
- is not equal to - Exclude specific variants
- starts with - Include variants where the option starts with specific text
- ends with - Include variants where the option ends with specific text
- contains - Include variants where the option contains specific text
- does not contain - Exclude variants where the option contains specific text
- Select or enter the value you want to filter by (e.g., "S" for Small)
- Click Apply
You can add multiple filters per component. Filters are combined with AND logic, so all conditions must be met for a variant to appear.
Example
To show only sizes 3T through 8Y in a children’s bundle, add:
- Size (Position 1) is not equal to 10Y
- Size (Position 1) is not equal to 12Y
- Size (Position 1) is not equal to 14Y
- Size (Position 1) is not equal to 16Y
Understanding Option Positions
Filters apply by option position, not by the option’s name. When you pick “Size (Position 1),” the filter is applied to the first option of every product in the collection. “Color (Position 2)” applies to the second option, and so on.
Important: make sure all products in the collection use the same option structure and order. This is required because when Shopify merges bundles in the cart, only option positions are available to our app, not option names.
Example:
- ✅ Good: All products have Size as option 1, Color as option 2
- ❌ Problematic: Some products have Size as option 1, others have Color as option 1
Additional Notes
- Filters affect only what customers can pick on the bundle page. No variants are deleted from your products.
- Variant Filters also work with automatic detection in the cart. Only filtered variants will be detected and merged when auto‑detection is enabled.
