How to Show Color Swatches Instead of Text for Variants
Bundly supports Shopify’s native swatches out of the box. If your product variants use Shopify’s built-in swatch system, Bundly will automatically display them as visual swatches (either color dots or image swatches) on bundle pages.
Example
Here’s what it looks like when swatches are set up correctly in Shopify:
Why You Might See Text Instead of Swatches
If you're seeing the variant options displayed as plain buttons or text (e.g. “Brown”, “Blue”) instead of colored dots, it's usually one of the following:
- Your theme uses a custom swatch implementation instead of Shopify’s native one
- Swatches aren’t fully configured using Shopify's new metaobject-based swatch system
- The option name doesn’t match Shopify’s expected “Color” naming convention
How to Set It Up
To display swatches correctly, follow Shopify’s guide to using native swatches: Shopify Swatch Setup Guide
This setup allows you to show:
- Solid color swatches based on color names like “Black” or “Beige”
- Image swatches for patterns or textures (like floral prints or fabric types)
Once configured, Bundly will render them automatically on your bundle pages.
Still Not Working?
If you’ve migrated to Shopify’s native swatch system but the swatches still don’t show correctly in Bundly, reach out to our support team, we’ll be happy to take a look and help you get it working properly.
