What Does “Inventory Not Tracked” Mean for Bundles?
When you’re managing your products in the Shopify Admin, you may notice that bundles created with Bundly show the message “Inventory not tracked” in the product list. Here’s what that means and why it’s important.
Why Shopify Shows This Message?
The “inventory not tracked” message indicates that the bundle itself does not have a separate inventory count in Shopify. Instead, the availability of the bundle relies entirely on the inventory levels of its individual components (the products that make up the bundle).
Why Is Inventory Not Tracked for Bundles?
Bundles are essentially a collection of individual products sold together. Tracking inventory for the bundle separately from its components would require constant synchronization between the bundle’s inventory and the inventory of each component. This synchronization process can be complex and prone to errors, potentially leading to overselling or stock discrepancies.
By not tracking inventory for bundles, Bundly ensures that bundles remain available for purchase as long as all of the individual components are in stock. Once any component of a bundle sells out, the bundle itself becomes unavailable.
